Privacy Policy

How Jackdaw Atlas handles information on your device and through Firebase services.

Last updated: August 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Jackdaw Atlas (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the iOS application and this website (including jackdaw-atlas.web.app and any custom domain we may configure).

Jackdaw Atlas is an unofficial fan-made companion app. It is not affiliated with Ubisoft.

1. Summary

  • Your found/progress data is stored on your device.
  • We use Firebase Analytics for aggregate product usage insights.
  • We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and improve stability.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • The App does not show third-party advertising.
  • You do not need an account to use the core map and checklist features.

2. Information stored on your device

The App stores progress data locally (for example, which map pins you marked as found) using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData / the system app container). This information stays on your device unless you back it up with Apple services (such as iCloud Backup) according to your device settings.

Map tiles and game-related content bundled with the App remain on your device as part of the installed application.

3. Information we collect through Firebase

The App integrates Google Firebase services under our Firebase project jackdaw-atlas. Firebase may process data on our behalf as a service provider.

3.1 Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate — for example, app opens, session duration, and general feature engagement. Typical data may include:

  • App instance identifiers and session information
  • Device model, OS version, and app version
  • Approximate geography derived from IP (country / region level, as provided by the service)
  • Events related to app usage (for example launches and screen or interaction events configured in the App)

We use this information to improve product quality and prioritise fixes and features. We do not use Analytics to build advertising profiles for third-party ads.

3.2 Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and stability reports so we can fix bugs. Reports may include:

  • Stack traces and crash logs
  • Device state at the time of the crash (for example model, OS version, free memory)
  • App version and related diagnostic metadata

Crash reports are used solely to maintain and improve the reliability of the App.

3.3 Google / Firebase documentation

For more detail on how Google processes data for Firebase products, see Firebase Privacy and Security and Google’s Privacy Policy.

4. This website

This marketing site is hosted with Firebase Hosting. When you visit the site, standard web server and infrastructure logs may be processed (for example IP address, user agent, request path, and timestamps) for security, reliability, and basic traffic measurement.

We do not intentionally place advertising cookies on this site. Your browser may still send standard technical data needed to load pages.

5. How we use information

  • To provide core App functionality (maps and on-device progress)
  • To measure product usage and improve features
  • To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and performance issues
  • To secure and operate this website and our backend infrastructure
  • To respond to support requests you send us

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers that process it for us (notably Google Firebase), when required by law, or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

7. Data retention

On-device progress remains until you delete it (for example by clearing app data or uninstalling). Analytics and Crashlytics data are retained according to Firebase product settings and Google’s retention practices for those services, for as long as needed for the purposes described above.

8. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Your choices

  • Device settings: You can limit analytics-related permissions where iOS provides controls, and you can delete the App at any time.
  • Support email: If you contact us, we will use the information you provide only to respond and resolve your request.
  • Region / rights: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal data. Contact us to make a request.

10. International processing

Firebase and related Google infrastructure may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied by the service providers according to their terms.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App or website after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
